The Jim Forshee Memorial Fund

Welcome to the Jim Forshee Memorial Fund Site

Douglas James "Jim" Forshee, a dedicated educator for 53 years, passed away on February 15th at 76. He began as a high school teacher, pioneering television production at Cortland Jr/Sr. High, impacting countless students. Jim coached various sports, emphasizing teamwork and perseverance. Transitioning to SUNY Cortland, he taught sports communication/management for 15 years, leaving a lasting impression. He was known for his dedication to students outside the classroom, receiving SUNY Cortland's Student Affairs Faculty Connection Award in 2015. Jim's legacy extends beyond education, as a devoted family man and wonderful pet owner.

Jim became a familiar face at our facility when he began sponsoring adoption fees for shelter residents that had an extended stay at our facility. He also dedicated time to rescuing cats in order to give them a second chance. In honoring Jim's memory and the compassionate legacy he leaves behind, we invite contributions to the Cortland SPCA. By supporting this cause, you'll continue Jim's cherished tradition of covering adoption fees. Your generosity will enable more shelter animals to find the warmth and love of a forever home, echoing Jim's spirit of kindness and care for all creatures.
